My training as a ceramicist was enriched by formative mentor relationships. I studied with artists Paul Soldner and Peter Voulkos. Applying what I learned, clay became for me a vehicle for connecting to a body-earth identity. Clay’s sculptural qualities and possibilities, such as using glass as a glaze to represent ink or creating a brush handle molded to my own hand inspire my work.
